The Thanksgiving travel period has begun, with millions of people traveling by car and plane across the United States. Despite over 5,500 flight delays and 300 cancellations reported on one day, travelers are continuing with their plans, aided by average gas prices of around $3 per gallon.

AAA projects that more than 73 million people will drive at least 50 miles for Thanksgiving dinners. Airports are busy but functioning normally after the recent government shutdown ended, and most Americans have budgeted to make it home for the holiday despite concerns about high prices.

When we got here, our flight had been delayed a few hours, and then when we checked in right after we put our bags in and got in to check out, it got canceled. On the road, there's some good news about gas prices. They're hovering at around $3 per gallon on average nationwide. AAA expects more than 73 million people to be driving at least 50 miles to their turkey dinners. I'm going to go Wednesday afternoon after work, that type of thing. Tuesday and Wednesday are the busiest ahead of Thursday, and then Sunday is when most people come back. Back at the airport, it's busy, but business as usual, now that the government shutdown is over. And we're so glad that the government's back on, and TSA's at full throttle, and all of the flight controllers, so thank goodness. Well, thank goodness is right, and just in time for all those travelers, especially since CBS News polling has shown that Americans are concerned about their wallets and high prices, but that hasn't prevented them from budgeting enough to get home for Thanksgiving, guys. I remember when it was like, if you left on Tuesday, you were okay, like it wouldn't be okay, and now it feels like you have to, you had to already leave. You're late now. Yesterday, you had to be on the road. I'm making it a full week holiday, you know. Something, yeah. I love that. Thanks so much.
