Law enforcement agencies across Southern Nevada, including local police departments and the Nevada State Police, have joined forces to create a regional traffic task force. The collaboration aims to reduce traffic-related fatalities, which have already reached 199 this year following 293 deaths last year.

The task force will target high-risk areas and repeat offenders, employing both enforcement and educational outreach to promote safer driving habits. Officers emphasize that community involvement is essential for the initiative's success and stress that road safety is a shared responsibility.

This morning, we learned of a valley wide enforcement to stop accidents before they happen. Law enforcement teaming up together to make sure that there's no more dangers on the road. It's unacceptable and completely preventable. Southern Nevada roads are deadly and law enforcement says it's time to take action. LVM PD, Nevada State Police, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City and Clark County School District Police departments all have one goal to prevent future tragedies and save lives. We've got speeders, drunk drivers, my God almighty in heaven trying to get my Children to come out into the roads. I'm concerned for them all the time. Last year, the valley saw 293 traffic related fatalities. This year, the count is already 199 to fight back. Officers are taking a united approach targeting high risk areas and repeat offenders. But they say this is about more than enforcement. Our mission simple, reduce unsafe driving, prevent serious crashes before they happen and remove dangerous drivers from our roadways. Officers will be highly visible across major roadways, neighborhoods and known high collision areas using data to determine where they're needed most. This isn't just about pulling cars over. Officers say every interaction with citizens, every school visit and every community outreach moment is a chance to teach safe driving habits. The message is clear. One life lost is one too many. We will make a difference. We will make a change. It's going to take more than just your law enforcement agencies. Officers say they need the community's help to make a meaningful difference on the roads. Lives will be saved. It's not just going to be on the freeway. It's not. We're going to be everywhere targeting all of those activities that we know lead the crashes. So it's through partnerships like this where real change can be done and it will slow down, buckle up, drive sober, stay alert together. They say lives can be saved. We need more help and we certainly welcome it. Law enforcement sharing with us that it's a shared responsibility to make sure that we all get to and from our destination safely.
