I'm Rob Burch at the Pettit National Ice Center, another incredible crowd. It was sold out for the final day of the U.S. Olympic trials, and the fans that we ran into just wanted to be here and be in the moment and watch history happen. Well, this is unique. I think it's the only other rink besides Salt Lake City and maybe Lake Placid, to my knowledge. So yeah, this is definitely where it's happening today. It's the difference of watching it on TV and being 10 feet from the ice. The lines were long before the doors opened on the final day. This brother and sister team, they were just here to see their dad. Well, my dad, he's 58 and he's racing for his fifth Olympic trials. He used to skate for the Olympics back in the day, but now he's just out there doing the best he can, having fun. How hard has your dad been working to make this happen? Really hard. It's insane. He has, every day, everything he does, everything he eats. His whole life, it's like a whole rhythm, and he's sunk right back into it. He caught up with dad right on the ice. He's a two-time Olympian. This trials will be his last. You know, I think it's a lot of things go into it. A lot of people ask me, how fast can you go at your age? And I never really had a good answer. I was like, you don't want my answer? You don't know. And the other thing is, I like to challenge myself and see what I'm capable of doing. And next step for some of the team members, for the women and men who qualified, they're headed to the Winter Olympics. We're here at the Pettit Center. I'm Rod Burks for TMJ4 Sports.
