Post-Christmas travel will be impacted by snow and ice for the Northeast region of the U.S. as we move into the weekend. AccuWeather's Anna Azallion has more on travel conditions after the holiday.

A winter storm is forecasted to impact the Northeastern United States, bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rain that will likely disrupt travel plans for those returning home after Christmas. The storm is expected to begin in the Northern Plains and Great Lakes before moving into the Northeast, with deteriorating road conditions and airport delays anticipated by Friday afternoon and evening.

Snow accumulations are predicted to reach one to three inches in Philadelphia, switching to sleet by Saturday morning, while New York City could see three to six inches, with up to eight inches possible. Further north, significant ice accumulation may lead to downed tree limbs and potential power outages across affected areas.

Snow and ice to cause post-Christmas travel problems in Northeast

Snow, freezing rain, sleet. That's the main thing that's going to get in the way of any travel plans Friday. I know a lot of people heading home after spending Christmas with family and you might want to rethink your travel plans, but let's dive into the details. So this all starts in the Northern Plains. The Great Lakes Thursday night and then moves into the Northeast as we go through Friday. So for most of the Northeast Friday morning is OK, but by the time we get to the afternoon the evening I mean. Road conditions are going to be a mess. Expect delays at the airport. As well as far as snow totals, Philadelphia, you're looking at one to three switching over to sleep towards the end of this Saturday morning. New York City. You're looking at three to six inches of snow and up to 8 inches is not out of the question. Then there's the ice. So into the Northeast further North you go on our ice map. It's mostly sleep, but everybody else we're talking about freezing rain and we're looking at tenths of inches of accretion. Some of you could even see up to half an inch of freezing rain which goes beyond that. Road conditions were talking tree limbs down because of the amount of ice on them, and we're talking power outages possible.

Some of the stabbed victims remain in serious condition. A 38-year-old man was arrested for alleged attempted murder at the factory, authorities said.
