Authorities in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, have confirmed that one person was shot at a Raising Canes fast food restaurant on Mayfield Road. The incident occurred just before 10:00 p.m., with the victim transported to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment. Police spent approximately six hours processing the scene and have not yet released details on suspects or the number of shots fired.

Both the Raising Canes and a nearby Sheetz location were closed during the investigation. Police are working with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and continue to seek information about what led to the shooting. There is no confirmation of any connection to a previous incident at the restaurant earlier in the year.

That information just breaking within the last couple of hours, and there has been a seismic shift in the investigation. You'll notice right here behind me. All of the police have cleared. They spent roughly six hours processing this crime scene right here along Mayfield Road. They did confirm one person was shot, now rushed to the hospital, and we're working to learn exactly what led up to this incident. Let's take you back to the most active points. When they moved in and shut down the Mayfield Heights location, you can see all that crime scene tape surrounding the outside of the Raising Canes. Now they were called to the Mayfield Road restaurant just before 10 o'clock Sunday night for a report of a shooting here. Police did confirm one person was shot, and they were then rushed to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment. It is not exactly clear what led up to this incident or even how many shots were fired. We're also working to learn who else is involved. Our overnight news tracker captured police spending hours processing the inside of the restaurant, snapping a series of photos and gathering additional evidence. Police did ask residents as well as passerbys to please avoid the area, and police confirmed that both the Raising Canes in the sheets right nearby closed as the investigation played out. You heard it right there. She was saying he is unresponsive at the door at Canes. We want to stress at this point we're still working to learn more information about this developing story again. One person shot at the Raising Canes right here behind me on Mayfield Road in Mayfield Heights. No word on suspects or even a description. We're gonna stay in close contact with B. C. I. Obviously this is a developing story, but we've looked into the past of this restaurant and even covered. There's been some issues there before. There has been Mike back in January of this year, the start of the year. Police were called here because there were reports of workers saying that they were receiving a series of threats to the restaurant. They said there were three men that were trying to do this. Police moved in. There was a full out chase. They couldn't find the suspects. They ended up arresting two men for obstruction. No one was hurt in that incident. It's unclear if there's any connection to this one. We're gonna continue to follow through on that, but definitely another prior incident and clearly a terrifying scene for those inside the restaurant, making those 911 calls.
