A teenage boy was attacked by a shark while swimming at Hermitage foreshore tracks in Sydney's Rose Bay area. Emergency services, including marine rescue and a helicopter, responded to the incident just before 4:30pm and retrieved the boy using a New South Wales police boat.

The boy, who sustained injuries to his arm, was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to hospital under police escort. Witnesses described seeing the boy's arm covered in blood, and authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

Georgie, this is very much an unfolding situation. We've just seen what we understand to be a teenage boy loaded into the back of an ambulance. He has been treated here at the scene in Rose Bay under a police tent. It's understood he was at Hermitage foreshore tracks swimming. When the call came in just before 4.30, we understand the New South Wales police boat went out and retrieved that boy, brought him back here to where he's been treated. As I said, we understand he's right now in the back of the ambulance about to take off. 10 News was first on scene here and we actually spoke to a witness. Here's what they had to say. So a police officer walked down here and he had the hose on him and his arm was just full of blood. I'm a big time swimmer and do I want to do I want to jump in there? Probably not. Not now. Yeah. Um yeah. So it makes you kind of feel like double weary. Yeah. As you can imagine, there was a huge emergency response here. We've got marine rescue and helicopter. All everyone is here this afternoon to make sure that this what we understand again, a young teenage boy gets the best care. He's in that ambulance. As you can see, it is taking off right now from Rose Bay. And of course, behind him, the police has got a police escort to make sure he can get to hospital as quickly as he can and get that treatment he needs.
