The storms caused extensive damage, including wind gusts up to 184 kilometres per hour, felled trees, damaged homes, and large hailstones across several communities.

Areas such as Bundaberg, Bergara, Meribah, Kenilworth, the Sunshine Coast, Harvey Bay, and Logan Home experienced severe impacts. Residents reported scenes of destruction, with debris blocking roads, tennis courts damaged, and hailstones of unprecedented size. Emergency responses included travellers and locals clearing debris to restore access.

From onboard an airliner at 38,000 feet, the top of the supercells were a stunning sight, towering structures of cloud lit up by blasts of electricity. And on the ground beneath the clouds, the view through Amber Pope's windscreen looked more like the climactic scene of a horror film. A frenzied attack of lightning and rain so heavy it almost appeared the vehicle was underwater. It felt like our car was lifting up and going to be thrown off the side. This was Bundaberg, 500 kilometres from where the storm had formed, but it had lost none of its intensity. Further north in Bergara, a piece of timber skewered through the side of a home, blasting into a living room. A trampoline lay crumpled in a garden and trees were felled across a caravan park, dozens of them. An unofficial wind recording here hit 184 kilometres an hour. It appeared cyclonic on the roads through Meribah. Drivers hit with hail before finding roads blocked by debris. Travellers helped clear the path in Kenilworth and on the Sunshine Coast. Hectic afternoon. Tennis court nets were pulled down in Harvey Bay and in suburb after suburb, lawns were littered with ice and items not well secured were knocked to the ground. Oh no, there goes the fan. At Logan Home, the hailstones were huge. It's insane. Deemed by some to be worth the risk of a mad dash for a fast melting memento.
