The Port of San Diego is considering whether to allow the McGarry Group to move forward with the proposed Pangea Chula Vista Sports Entertainment District. The development plan features a tennis center, three hotels, a Water Polo Academy, a 50,000-seat stadium, a large retail area, two golf courses, and an IMAX theater.

While the proposal has attracted interest from neighboring regions, some local residents have expressed concerns due to previous construction impacts, such as noise and disruption from the nearby Gaylord Pacific Resort project. The decision is part of Chula Vista's long-term efforts to redevelop its Bayfront area.

It would include so many different things here. A tennis center, three hotels, Water Polo Academy, 50,000 seat stadium, 300,000 square foot retail area, two golf courses and an IMAX theater. The proposals attracting some of our neighbors south of the border, but it's not sitting well for some people who already dealt with long construction from the Gaylord Pacific Resort that they say has scared away all the fish to me as a visitor. It's not great because there's a lot of place to to to be see to another opportunity to stay. The vibration coming from the pounding of putting those girders and to the ground, you know, it's just like, I don't know, I'm just tired. I'm burning up fuel. All of this as part of Chula Vista's decades long plan to redevelop the Bayfront.
