Crypto entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a massive fraud that unraveled with the collapse of FTX, once one of the world’s most popular platforms for exchanging digital currency.

This sentencing follows his involvement in a substantial fraud which came to light following the downfall of FTX. Prior to its collapse, FTX was regarded as one of the leading platforms globally for trading digital currencies.

And breaking news from just moments ago, a judge has sentenced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. He will spend 25 years in prison for massive cryptocurrency fraud. Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of between 40 and 50 years while defense lawyers wanted six and a half years. Bankman-Fried was convicted last year of committing massive fraud costing customers and investors nearly ten billion dollars in total. In court this morning he addressed the judge and apologized for his actions and he is appealing his conviction.
