Cape Town has revived its historic hill climb motorsport event, which was originally popular from 1912 until the 1960s. The event, now called the Cape Classic Hill Climb, features more than 150 vehicles, including rare and vintage models such as a 1907 B12 Chevron once owned by Stirling Moss. 

The race takes place on Phillip Gosana Drive, a public road in the city, and brings together drivers and enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. Franco Scribent claimed the King of the Hill title in a modified Nissan GT-R R35, completing the 1.8-kilometre course in 35 seconds. Organisers hope to establish the hill climb as an annual fixture in Cape Town's sporting calendar.

Cape Town is now providing the stunning backdrop for a motorsport event that was popular from 1912 until 1960s. The return of the hill climb race has brought sports cars from all eras together to battle it out on a short, sharp and twisting track. This speed classic event takes place up Phillip Gosana Drive, usually a public road leading into the city. This 1907 B12 Chevron is one of only 35 built and was once owned by the racing driver Stirling Moss. People say it's old and it's rare and it's valuable, should you be driving it like this should it not belong in a museum or in a collection or whatever and to my mind it was made to be driven, it was made to be raced so you know, keep on racing. This Ferrari is also one of over 150 participating vehicles at the inaugural Cape Classic Hill Climb event. I want people to know the car, get closer to the car, people to have the feeling and want to work towards getting a car like this. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I've worked all this time. My dad used to race in the 60s and 70s and that's where my passion came from. I'm a normal person, I own a workshop, I own a panel meeting shop and I'm here, anybody can do it. Franco Scribent won the King of the Hill title in a modified Nissan GT-R R35 with a time of 35 seconds up the 1.8 kilometre course. He takes top step on the podium to collect his trophy. Organisers hope this will become an annual event in the city.
