A recent CBS News poll indicates that Americans' perceptions of the economy and inflation do not align with the Trump administration's messaging. Only 32 percent of respondents rate the economy positively, with many citing ongoing price increases as a major concern.

The poll also found that 6 in 10 Americans believe the administration is portraying the economy in a more favorable light than reality. Additionally, three-quarters of those focused on economic issues feel the president is not dedicating enough attention to them, contributing to the lowest economic approval ratings of the year.

So, Anthony, as we enter the holiday season, walk us through how people are feeling about the economy and inflation and how it differs from what we're hearing from the White House. All right. It's a time of year. People spend even more money, right? This is the ratings of the economy, and you can see it's dropped now. It's at 32 percent. Good. It's been low all year, as you can see. But that little bit of an added decline, if you will, is really because you've got a lot of people who say that prices are still going up, certainly not coming down. So that's one part of it. Prices have always been driving views of the economy for recent years, right? Now, what you mentioned there at the top, this is the 6 and 10 who say that they think the administration is making things sound better than they really are. So a bit of a disconnect. Look, any president is going to sometimes try to be upbeat, right? Be optimistic, especially about economic things. But at the same time, this is a disconnect that people are seeing and what they're hearing out of the White House. And a big part of that is they're saying not enough attention to the economy. And so how do those economic opinions affect the ratings of the president? Well, that leads to those things about attention to it. So I'll walk you through it like this. For the people who say that the way they judge the Trump administration first and foremost is on the economy and inflation, when you ask them, do you think that he's spending enough time on it or the right amount, you get this big three quarters saying not enough time. And that's how it connects then to his ratings of the economy, which have been on this downward slide now, now to their lowest point of the year. Things started off very optimistically back in the early part of the year. But as people told us in the polling, they expected prices to come down. They expected the economy to get better. So part of what you see in this drop off is that comparison to those expectations where they're still, as I said at the top, still seeing prices too high for them. OK, Anthony Savando, thank you.
