The incident occurred at the corner of East 69th Street and Avenue M, with police receiving multiple 911 calls, including reports that the attacker was still inside the house threatening another family member.

Authorities have identified the attacker as a man in his 30s, approximately 5'6" tall, last seen wearing blue pants and a white hooded sweatshirt, and fleeing in a 2019 Toyota SUV. Neighbors expressed shock at the violence in their typically quiet neighborhood, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

News 12's Tim Harfman is in Bergen Beach with the latest. Tim, take us through this update. Marcy crime tape still covers this street corner as officers sit outside the house where sources say a husband and wife were stabbed by their son-in-law. It happened around 7.30 last night on the corner of East 69th Street and Avenue M. Sources say police received multiple 911 calls, including one from the victim's daughter, who said her mother was breathing hard, and other 911 calls saying the attacker was still inside the house, threatening to hurt a niece who was there. We're told officers arrived and found the husband and wife, both 49 years old, on the first floor with multiple stab wounds. The man identified by police as Juan Manuel Galicia died from his injuries. His wife remains in critical condition. Neighbors tell News 12 they're in disbelief. I saw a woman walking around, there's a bunch of cops out here, and then ambulances pulled up and a fire truck, and she was walking kind of staggery, but like on her phone and hysterical. They put her in the back of an ambulance and then I saw a bunch of EMS run into the home. Very quiet here. We've been here 20 years and just never came across something like this, so it's really shocking.
