Body camera footage from the Ruidoso Police Department documented the rescue of a man trapped waist-deep in mud and debris, as four rescuers used a rope to pull him to safety.

Despite these efforts, three people lost their lives in the floods, including two young children. Authorities continue to search for a missing child, as the floodwaters quickly overtook the area, leaving devastation in their wake.

As floodwaters roared into Ruidoso, NM last week, police officers and rescue crews worked to pull a man to safety as he stood submerged, waist deep, in mud and debris. Scripps News obtained this body camera footage from the Ruidoso Police Department. It shows how quickly the water washed through this community, taking down everything in its path. Using a rope, four rescuers pulled the submerged man to safety. But tragically, there would be no rescue for two children, victims of the rapid floodwaters. Where's the baby? I don't know. I'm going to go to the back of my house, there's another spot like this, and I'm going to look for that baby.
