A little boy from Sydney's west has had a seventh birthday he'll never forget. A car rammed into the side of his home only metres from where celebrations had been taking place. His family are counting their blessings.

A family's celebration in Doonside was abruptly interrupted when a blue hatchback, involved in a police pursuit, crashed into their home. The incident occurred after officers attempted to stop the vehicle for dangerous driving, leading to a chase that ended with both the hatchback and a police car crashing.

Emergency services responded quickly, securing the area and ensuring residents' safety. The 21-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and later refused bail in court. Despite the disruption and damage, the family and neighbours managed to maintain their composure and begin cleaning up the aftermath.

A clean-up job wasn't on seven-year-old Ganav's birthday wish list. His family celebrating the milestone when a police pursuit brought the night to a crashing end. The bang happened. I heard it and so what was that? Just before 2am, a blue hatchback smashed into the side of the family's home. If it was two metres to the left, it would have gone right through my front living room where we were actually all sitting down. Officers spotted the car driving dangerously on Earl Street at Doonside. They say the driver failed to stop and the chase was initiated, speeding down Judith Anderson Drive before both the hatchback and police car crashed. I heard all these sirens and that going and I thought, oh, there must be something happening. I didn't really hear any sirens but yeah, just a massive bang and then I heard the sirens afterwards. The police car was wedged in the neighbour's fence. Neighbours called in to secure the gas main and remove any unstable bricks. Neighbours told 10 News the street was effectively locked down, police ordering residents back into their homes to gain control of the scene. Despite the fear in the moment, the family still found a way to have a bit of fun. You can't park there, sir. The family left with a mess in their front yard. Came in the morning, yeah, and decided to clean it but I was shocked. Horrified because I never had a house accident.
