A house fire broke out just after 10 a.m. in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, resulting in one police officer being hospitalized for smoke inhalation. The Pompton Lakes Fire Department extinguished the flames, and investigators are now examining the scene.

The fire caused significant damage to the front and left side of a single-family home, including a blown-out window and a large hole in the roof. No other injuries have been reported, and neighboring homes appear undamaged. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Daryl good morning You're along Ridgewood Avenue here in Pompton Lakes in a short time ago The mayor in town told me that there was in fact one injury a responding officer was taken away to a nearby hospital For smoke inhalation, but we don't know of any other injuries at this time We're gonna push you into the house that went up in flames early this morning This is a single-family home And as you can see all the flames have been put down at this time by the Pompton Lakes Fire Department at this time You'll see investigators and police hanging around and you can see the damage to the front left portion of the house The front window has been blown out much of the inside is burned It looks and destroyed and there is a large hole in the roof there Most of the damage happening to the front and left side of the home the right home right side of the home Seems to be okay The same for the houses on either side of this home seem to be in very good condition As of right now, we do not have a cause for this fire Investigation is underway firefighters have moved out of the building and now they are simply collecting evidence in a few moments I'll be speaking to the mayor to find out more as to what happened here and exactly how this fire started That's the very latest in Pompton Lakes.
