An innocent family has escaped injury when several shots were fired into their suburban home in Kellyville, Sydney’s northwest in a case of mistaken identity. Police investigations remain ongoing.

A home in North Kellyville was struck by a dozen gunshots, damaging the front balcony, door, and brickwork. Inside were three residents, none of whom were injured. Police believe the shooters targeted the wrong house, as a similar incident occurred at a neighbouring property several months prior, which was previously occupied by a person of interest. The suspected getaway car was found burning in a nearby suburb shortly after the attack. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have noted the distress caused to the affected family.

We're a dead end road and then it's a reserve to another road. All the hallmarks of a gangland hit, but police suspect those responsible have made one very big mistake. We believe that the wrong house was targeted and the wrong people were targeted. Police believe that because a neighbouring home was shot up in November last year. That's where, until recently, Sioni Kalamatangi was living, he has known, under WorldLynx. Although it's a difference of five houses between the home that was hit last night and the property that was targeted eight months ago, they actually have the same street number, perhaps confusing enough for a gunman to mix up. Whether or not this house was the wrong target and that other one was what was supposed to be targeted, that will form part of our investigation today.
