The incident follows another recent case where an unlicensed 17-year-old was arrested after a chase with water police. Authorities have seized the jet skis involved for forensic examination and are continuing their investigation, with charges yet to be laid. Police and maritime officers have announced increased patrols and are warning jet ski riders that dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated.

At Brighton La Sands, a brutal end to an afternoon on the water. Four riders thrown from a pair of jet skis after colliding late yesterday afternoon. The clash injured a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. The woman is still in hospital with some serious injuries and the man has thankfully been released. An 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man escaped injury, the teen arrested accused of trying to flee. Police say the jet skis were speeding at the time, a story that's becoming all too common at Brighton La Sands. It's extremely concerning and you've got swimmers at Brighton La Sands, you've got other recreational boat users and that's why the police are out in force with maritime. On Sunday, a jet skier allegedly became locked in a wild chase with water police who say the 17-year-old was unlicensed and was only arrested when he made it to shore. This young person's jet ski has also been seized and the matter under investigation with charges pending for operating a vessel at speed in a dangerous manner. Police and maritime are warning that they'll be out in force and will ramp up patrols. We will not tolerate dangerous navigation that's putting lives and members of the public at risk. With increasing numbers of jet ski riders out on the water, police are warning people that what seems like a bit of fun can easily turn deadly. Police have seized both the jet skis involved in yesterday's crash for forensic examination. Charges are yet to be laid but the investigation is continuing while jet skiers are being warned.
