A 39-year-old man was killed and his friend seriously injured in brazen shooting at a pub in Forest Lodge, Sydney. Police believe the attack was linked to organised crime.

A fatal shooting occurred outside the Harold Park Hotel in Forest Lodge, Sydney, resulting in the death of 39-year-old Gilbert Chino and serious injuries to Maradona Yalda. Paramedics responded quickly, but Chino died at the scene, while Yalda, who has links to an Assyrian street gang, underwent surgery after being shot multiple times. 

Police believe Yalda was the intended target and are investigating connections to organised crime networks. Authorities are searching for the gunman and a possible getaway driver, focusing on a dark blue Ford Mustang seen in the area. The pub and surrounding area have since reopened, but the investigation is ongoing.

His friend, Maradona Yalda, left seriously injured, running for his life as he was chased down by the gunman. Like multiple times, at least sort of maybe six times, he'd been shot in the neck, the chest, the abdomen, arms, legs, just everywhere, so yeah. But he was still conscious and they put him in the ambulance. When they're spending the day there watching the USC fights. They made their move at 6.40 last night with a hail of bullets. There was probably like eight, 10 gunshots, and then a pause, and then another half dozen maybe. I saw some people running down the street, yeah, and they were hiding. A staff member narrowly avoided the pair's fate. It's been described to me, a bullet whizzed past her, so again, not knowing how far that is, but obviously it was pretty close. Two medical students and an off-duty doctor rushing to give aid. Of course I'm concerned. On a Sunday night at basically a suburban pub, it's a horrifying, violent, criminal act. While both men are known to police, it's believed Yalda was the intended target. The 31-year-old has links to an Assyrian street gang, The Last Hour. Last night, loved ones gathered outside Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he's undergone surgery twice. It's understood police had warned him his life was at risk. Obviously, we'll be looking at the links with organised crime networks. That'll be the focus of our investigation. Police are working to determine just how long the gunman was sitting in wait before opening fire. As the manhunt continues, they're also investigating just how many were involved, including a potential getaway driver. The victim's Ford Raptor is seized by police today, as the probe continues into this latest explosion of underworld tensions on Sydney streets. Sandra, both the area and the pub are now back open after a crime scene that lasted not far off 24 hours. So now the police tape has been taken down. We can show you the area in the front glass of the pub where a bullet sailed through to where people were sitting inside. Now, tonight police are still searching for the culprits. They have revealed that they're looking for a dark blue Ford Mustang, seen in the area between 3pm and 7pm yesterday. Sandra, that four-hour period gives you a sense of just how long the gunman might have been sitting there, biding their time before making a move.
