Nvidia announced its latest AI platform, Vera Rubin, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. CEO Jensen Huang stated that the new platform delivers five times the computing power of previous models and can reduce AI data processing costs by four to ten times.

The Vera Rubin platform is designed to accelerate the development of AI models for applications such as chatbots, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. Other CES highlights included LG's demonstration of a robot capable of performing household chores using home appliances.

Well, tech giant chipmaker NVIDIA, powering the US stock market, by the way, is hoping to maintain its dominance in the AI industry with a powerful new platform. It's called Vera Rubin. The chipmaker CEO, Jensen Wong, says that's the next frontier. He told industry experts at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that his company is producing AI chips that can deliver five times the computing power of its previous model. So reporting on everything CES, joining us live is CNET reporter David Katzmeyer. David, good to have you with us here. Did you get an idea of how NVIDIA's Vera Rubin works and how it stands out in that crowded AI field? So NVIDIA is a leader in the AI field. And one of the things about AI right now is that, you know, demand for computing power is insatiable. So what they're promising is that this new platform will be able to reduce the cost of the data processed by AI. Those are tokens. And they're saying that they can reduce that token cost by four to 10 times. And the end result is faster development of AI models. I mean, AI is being used not just for chatbots like chat GPT, but for robotics, autonomous vehicles. Tons of other things that we're seeing now on the show floor are powered by AI. And NVIDIA's Rubin platform is going to make all of that, you know, ideally a lot faster, less expensive to develop. Well, I used to live in Las Vegas for, what, 11 years now. And I know there's always one or two star events, star attractions that come out of CES. What's standing out for you besides Jensen Huang's very fancy, shiny black jacket? Yeah, he was looking good. Well, we've seen some really cool things. This is day one right now. The show floor just opened a few minutes ago. We've already seen a lot of really cool things. One of them is this robot from LG. So LG makes home appliances. This robot will actually use those home appliances for you. So it can, the demonstration we saw, the robot will fold laundry. It will put your dishes into the dishwasher and do all these kind of things. You're like, OK, let's make these chores easier. OK, excellent.
