Severe weather conditions have led to significant coastal erosion and evacuation orders on the NSW Central Coast, particularly at The Entrance and Terrigal. Authorities have reinforced rock walls on Sydney's northern beaches, and communities across the state are preparing for worsening conditions. Strong winds have caused trees to fall and wind gusts nearing 100km/h have been recorded in several regions, including the south coast, Illawarra, and western Sydney. Sydney Airport has reduced operations to a single runway, resulting in widespread flight delays and cancellations. The weather system has also brought snowfall to parts of the Blue Mountains, though some areas missed out. Authorities warn that further damage to coastal areas is expected as the weather continues.

They have, Ursula. That's due to dangerous coastal erosion-threatening homes, the evacuation orders in place for the NSW Central Coast, specifically the entrance and terrigal. Now this video shows the rough swells around that area. Meanwhile, on Sydney's northern beaches, some of the more vulnerable coastlines have had their rock walls reinforced today. Coastal communities across the state are bracing with the wild weather set to worsen tonight. Already trees have toppled by strong winds. The state's south coast, Illawarra, and also parts of western Sydney have copped wind gusts close to 100km an hour. And the gusty conditions have reduced Sydney Airport down to one runway. So hundreds of travellers have suffered delays which will continue tomorrow as passengers are booked on alternate flights. The flight just got cancelled because of the weather, I guess. I'm just waiting for a rescheduled one to cancel. Yeah, just kind of anxiously waiting to see if it's going to get cancelled. So I'm not going to drop my bag off yet. I'll wait and see how we go. But the system hasn't only brought destructive weather, it's also brought some snow to the Blue Mountains. This video was taken by Genolan Cabins. It's not the first time they've had snow this season. But other areas of the mountains did miss out today. While it is looking pretty through there, we are expecting to wake up to ugly scenes across the state with the weather likely to damage coastal areas in the coming hours.
