You're a good chalamet to you this morning I knew you were so good last year that I said I know they've already asked you to do it and sure enough they've had they had had asked you to do it So I'm wondering how you're feeling. I saw you say the other day It's gonna be more of a covert mission for you this time. What does that mean? It's just um, well, you know, you have to be very delicate about making jokes that aren't going to ruin anyone's night But you also want to give the people at home you know something to laugh at and you want to poke fun at the people that they're dying for you to make fun of like People at home want you to make fun of the A-listers They want to make them they want you to make them feel a little bit uncomfortable So it's covert in the sense that I want to get away with those jokes without just like ruining the vibe in the room So it's it's a really strategic and it's one of like the most difficult jobs. I've ever had I think the perfect jokes, but you do it though Nikki. This is a your skill I think you do it without being mean and I think that there is a funny but you do you do it without being mean It's funny. There's sometimes you go, but you're not mean Yeah, you know, I leave the mean for the roast, you know I think people have known me as like wow She tells really mean jokes and I really saved that for the roast because that's the place to do them people have signed up for This I feel like I don't know I I am a huge fan of these people and and this year's a little bit different because we have so Like many huge A-listers that I grew up kind of really admiring and it's easy for me to take down like, you know The newer a batch of actresses and actors who are younger than me. It's like, okay, I can make fun of you I'm like a veteran When it's like people that I grew up like it's oh my gosh, it's so much. It's a different approach this year I mean even just taking jokes around I you know I'm trying out my monologue around LA at the clubs here and just even any joke about Julia Roberts They are not there for you can So that is my whatever I end up saying about her That is the most fine-tuned joke that I've worked on so hard because it is very delicate I mean she they were booing and I was like is she here So Yes, she's all around us always so last year you said you actually reached out to some celebrities to see if the joke was okay Or if it was going too far. Have you done that this year? Not yet, but I was wondering if anyone there had Sean Penn's number because I would like to get his approval No, it's like this year. Do you know something is like I I I last year I was able to reach out to Benny Blanco I had a friend of a friend who knew him and and he seemed like someone I could kind of cold text But I don't even know if Leo has a phone, you know Like there's certain people that I don't even know what I would say So it's and it's almost like some of these jokes you're you think about okay if I got their number Would I write them and ask them and then I go, you know what they might say? No, and I know the joke isn't that mean and I know I would rather ask for forgiveness later Party when they're drunk. Yeah, so Nikki your Last comedy special it got nominated for a Grammy Emmy and Golden Globe. So are you working on a new act? Are you working on another special and then I heard something about MASH that you'll be involved in what's going on blowing up right now, baby It's it's all when it rains it pours. It's I'm I actually just filmed a new special a Month or so ago and so that'll be coming out this year on Hulu. I'm very excited about it a new You know just our of you know The cutting kind of honest material that I do and that I'm known for and then yeah I have a couple movies that are you know in Pre pre pre production now and one of them is based on the game mash that we used to play as kids Nikki, we are cheering you on I'm gonna be on the red carpet on Sunday.
