This time, Ocean Infinity will search 15,000 square kilometers over 55 days. It will be paid 70 million U.S. dollars, but only if the wreckage is found. It's impressive that they're taking that challenge on. Experts say this time search crews have more advanced technology. But it won't be easy. Underwater is actually a lot more rugged than above the ground. So you could easily lose relatively large objects in deep canyons in between ridges. It's really hard to find. Ocean Infinity has had luck finding the unfindable. In 2022, they played a role in discovering Sir Ernest Shackleton's lost ship, the Endurance, off the coast of Antarctica, more than 100 years after it sank. Families are hopeful too. Qiang Hui remembers waving goodbye to his 72-year-old mother, never to see her again. Finding the plane, finding my loved ones, finding the truth. These are things I must do in my lifetime, he says.
