The incident left the nonprofit concerned about its ability to continue serving the community during a critical time.

Following media coverage, Kenosha residents responded with donations, restocking essential items such as socks and hand warmers. The Hope Council has now resumed its services, emphasizing that the recovery was made possible by community support.

It filled most of this area all the way into this office earlier this month, just at temperatures began to drop. A plumbing issue flooded the Hope Council on alcohol and other drug abuse in Kenosha. Several inches of water cost thousands of dollars in damage. Wiping out winter supplies meant for people battling addiction and those experiencing homelessness. It's just so hard to and it's this time of year when we're supposed to be helping others. The fact that we need the help then so, you know, hope shows up in the in between. It shows up when it's a struggle and it grows resiliency. The flood left the nonprofit worried about how it would continue serving the community. It was coming from the floor drain in this tea closet. But after our story aired and especially through the holidays, Kenosha stepped up, it meant the world to us. It's what made it possible for us to keep going forward these last couple weeks to keep delivering what we've promised that we would do and to keep showing up socks, hand warmers and cold weather essentials are now restocked. The Hope Council, which supports individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug abuse, says this was never a solo effort. It's moving. It really makes you feel like there are people looking out for you. Now the shelves are full again and the doors are open. We're here. We're here for you.
