Morgan Geyser, age 23, was located and arrested in Posen, Illinois, after fleeing a group home in Madison, Wisconsin. Authorities report that she cut off her GPS bracelet and was missing for over 24 hours before being found with a man outside a gas station, where both initially provided false names to police.

Geyser is expected to face escape charges in Wisconsin and is currently held in Cook County Jail, with an extradition hearing scheduled. Officials acknowledged a delay in notifying Madison police about her disappearance and stated they are reviewing procedures to improve future response times.

Waukesha County reporter Kaylee Starl is live at the Waukesha courthouse right now with what we're learning today. Kaylee, we're hearing from authorities both in Illinois and Wisconsin already today. Ryan, it's been a little over 12 hours since Geyser was taken into custody across the state line in posing Illinois and we're now learning she'll likely face escape charges here in Wisconsin. Right now we're at the Waukesha County courthouse awaiting a press conference to learn more. But I want to take you back to what we know leading up to Geyser's arrest pose in Illinois. Police say they found Geyser and a man outside a gas station after a clerk reported two people loitering and sleeping on the ground with multiple bags. Both were taken into custody. Now police say the man gave officers a fake name and originally refused to leave. He was charged with obstruction and criminal trespassing and was released from police custody. Police also say Geyser gave a false name before admitting she didn't want to identify herself because of quote what she had done. Now all of this comes more than 24 hours after Geyser cut off her GPS bracelet at a group home in Madison. The State Department of Corrections got a malfunction alert at 9 30 p.m. Saturday night and staff at the home said she wasn't there. The D. O. C. Filed an apprehension request around midnight, but Madison police say they weren't told she was missing until around eight a.m. The next morning. That's almost 12 12 hours after she left. Time was not ideal, but we'll take a look at it. We'll work with D. O. C. To figure out how do we improve on the next go around? But the important thing is, I think is we were collaborating well when the time came. Um, but you know, the timing could certainly get better on the next one. Yeah, I mean, I guess so as they review that timing, we know that Geyser did make an appearance before a judge in Cook County this morning and is now being held in the Cook County Jail. She also has an extradition hearing scheduled for tomorrow. Meanwhile, back here in Wisconsin, like I said, we are awaiting a press conference here at the courthouse from the district attorney.
