President Joe Biden's primetime interview has failed to stop calls within his own party to end his re-election campaign after, with more Democrats joining colleagues to call for the President to step aside.

President Joe Biden's primetime interview has not quelled calls within his own party for him to end his re-election campaign. Growing numbers of Democrats doubt the president's capacity to serve for another four years, fearing his stance on polling could negatively impact down-ballot races. Many of these races are highly competitive, with outcomes often decided by narrow margins.

The sense of urgency is particularly strong in the House of Representatives, where Democrats believe they have a chance to regain control. Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig, involved in one of her state's tightest races, has publicly urged President Biden to step aside. Craig emphasized that her decision was not made lightly, citing the potential risk of a second Donald Trump presidency.

Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is preparing for a virtual meeting with top House Committee Democrats to address the growing discontent. Jeffries has been engaging with party members to try to mitigate defections. In the Senate, Virginia Senator Mark Warner is reportedly working to rally Democratic senators to call for Biden's withdrawal, as per the Washington Post. However, President Biden still has supporters, such as Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, who has publicly defended him.

To date, no Democratic senator has officially called for the president to step down, but this situation may evolve as Congress reconvenes after the July 4th recess.

lot of Democrats aren't convinced by the president's argument that he has the capacity to serve for four more years and they think his denialism of the polls will cost him down ballot races this fall. Craig says in part this is not a decision I come to lightly but there is simply too much at stake to risk a second Donald Trump presidency. That's why I respectfully call on President Biden to step aside. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is set to hold a virtual meeting with top House Committee Democrats tomorrow. He's been listening to members of his party all week as he tries to stem a tide of defections against the president. On the Senate side per the Washington Post, Virginia Senator Mark Warner is working to gather a group of Democratic senators to urge the president to step aside but the president does have an ally in Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman who also struggled in his debate in the 2022 election after suffering a stroke. If you want to betray the president like that you're entitled to you're entitled to your opinion but enjoy your three minutes of fame but otherwise I'm gonna stand with the president. So far no Democratic senator has publicly called for the president to drop out something that could change when Congress comes back from July 4th recess on Monday.
