Many Argentinians are experiencing falling wages, rising unemployment, and a shrinking economy due to strict austerity measures. While some voters remain hopeful about future growth under Milei's leadership, others are struggling with reduced purchasing power and economic uncertainty. The upcoming elections are widely viewed as a referendum on Milei's presidency, with a significant portion of legislative seats at stake.

He's not a candidate himself, but Argentinian President Javier Mele is front and center of the campaign for midterm elections. He's seeking to shore up support in Congress, where his right-wing Libertarian La Libertad de Avanza party is in the minority, meaning he hasn't been able to push through all his planned reforms. But despite that, we come to the election standing tall, and starting Sunday, Argentina is going to seriously change. Mele was elected in 2023 on promises of slashing inflation and delivering a fiscal surplus, promises he kept. But it came at a cost, and now Argentina is experiencing falling wages, rising unemployment and a contracting economy. Mele's approval ratings are currently at their lowest point, as his harsh austerity policies and budget cuts have left ordinary Argentinians hurting. It's not like we used to have so many luxuries, but well, maybe before we could choose a meal. Now we can't. Now we have to depend on someone else to know if we eat or not. We are going through a very tough time in Argentina. Workers don't have purchasing power for basic goods. The only sector I think is satisfied is the banks. But other voters have faith that the pain is short term. Who will I vote for? Absolutely Mele. No one else has proposals. They just try to stop Mele. Why? Because with him, the country can grow and he can change the country's direction. Half the seats in the lower house and a third of Senate seats are up for grabs in this election seen as a referendum on Javier Mele's presidency.
