The Michelin Guide unveiled its annual list of the best French restaurants. Two restaurants achieved the highest pinnacle of three stars at the annual ceremony : Le Gabriel in Paris and La Table du Castellet in the southern Provence region.

The Michelin Guide, recognized for its prestigious restaurant ratings, recently disclosed its annual list of top French restaurants. This year, 62 restaurants across France have been newly awarded Michelin stars, signifying their excellence in the culinary field. Among these, two establishments stood out by receiving the guide's ultimate accolade of three stars: Le Gabriel, located in Paris, and La Table du Castellet, positioned in the southern Provence region. These awards highlight the exceptional quality and innovation demonstrated by the chefs and their teams at these locations.



Michelin Guide unveils 62 newly starred French restaurants

The creme de la creme of French cuisine gathered in Tours on Monday for the annual Michelin Awards ceremony. The Gastronomic Bible dished out new stars to 62 restaurants. And among the recipients was one notable record-breaker. Fabien Ferret, chef of Tableau de Castellet in Provence, became at the age of 35 the youngest French chef ever to receive three stars, a success he puts down to his never-give-up attitude. You have to keep fighting because life is full of setbacks. I've had mine, and I've picked myself up. Now I'm here at a three-star place. You've always got to hang in there. You've got to fight. Jérôme Bantel of Le Gabriel in Paris also secured a third Michelin star for the first time. I'm so happy. All those years I worked, but I didn't get any reward. I'm just too happy. The Michelin Guide continues to be heavily male-dominated, which the organisers acknowledge is a problem. Only six of the chefs recognised were women. One of them, Eugénie Béziers, chef at Espadon at the Ritz in Paris, said she hoped to spur more women to success. You have to persevere in this business. You have to keep going. You have to hang in there. You have to inspire young women. I've got some in my team. We've got some in the restaurant, and that's it. As long as you've got talent, there's a place for everyone. That's all. A total of 639 restaurants in France now hold at least one of the coveted stars, but there can also be disappointments in the competitive race. 28 establishments lost a star this year, including one formerly three-star restaurant.
