Maurice Kamto, head of the Cameroonian Renaissance Movement (MRC), has publicly denounced his exclusion from the upcoming 2025 presidential election. Kamto accused the ruling RDPC party and state institutions of orchestrating his disqualification, linking it to his party’s previous boycott of the 2020 legislative and municipal elections. 

He further alleged that the Constitutional Council, Judiciary, and National Electoral Commission (ELECAM) are complicit in the decision, and criticized the United Nations for what he described as a lack of genuine oversight. Despite his exclusion, Kamto reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing democracy in Cameroon, calling the move a political crime against the Cameroonian people.

Maurice Camteau, leader of the Cameroonian Renaissance Movement, MRC, has sharply criticized the country's ruling party and its institutions after being excluded from the upcoming 2025 presidential election. The decision to sideline me from the 2025 presidential election was made a long time ago by the RDPC regime. The regime has never tolerated the fact that we avoided the major political trap of the 2020 legislative and municipal elections by choosing to boycott them. The regime wanted to destroy the MRC through those elections and has never forgiven us for escaping that trap. From that point on, the campaign to demonize the MRC and its national president was launched and the decision to prevent the latter by all means from taking part in the 2025 presidential election was made. Camteau also louched out on the Constitutional Council, the Judiciary and the National Electoral Commission, accusing them of colluding with the regime. The Constitutional Council, the Judiciary, ELECAM, as well as the authorities in power, particularly through the Ministry of Territorial Administration, which has been involved in every underhanded action against us, has betrayed you without remorse. The United Nations, which signed a secret agreement with ELECAM on May 9, 2025, supposedly to guarantee the transparency of the 2025 presidential election, has betrayed you. The international community, so quick to stand alongside the dictatorship that crushes the Cameroonian people, did not feel concerned by the political crime committed by the RDPC regime against our people. Despite its disqualification, Camteau said the struggle for democracy in Cameroon will continue, calling the move a political crime against Cameroonian people.
