Yes, Sandra, it became clear that Member for Vaucluse, Kelly Sloan, would have the numbers to defeat the Liberal leader, Mark Speakman, in a vote. And so after a day of holding back, he has held a snap press conference just a few minutes ago indicating that he will resign from the top job. But he started the day strong and perhaps in denial before cancelling all of his media commitments as these intensive discussions within the Liberal Party were underway. Here's how the day unfolded. Kelly spoke with me this afternoon and indicated to me that she wished to take the leadership. She believed that the interests of the party would be best served if she took the reins and I have reluctantly agreed that that is so. Mark Speakman is saying that he endorses Kelly Sloan for the top job and that she is an enormous talent. She came to his office this afternoon and indicated she did wish to take on the leadership role and that it would be best for the party if that were to take place. So now it will go to a vote to make it all final but we do know she is the leading contender as a Liberal Party continues to look inward as we go into the last sitting week of the year and has clearly indicated today that it's time for change.
