Now volunteer lifeguards were the first to arrive at the scene, which has triggered a massive search and rescue operation. The boat carrying the three men was found overturned on the rocks underneath the Baron Joey Lighthouse when rescue crews arrived at the incident. One man was able to be pulled from the water by lifeguards, but was pronounced dead at the scene. A second was winced to hospital by helicopter and is currently undergoing treatment at Royal North Shore. Now a search and rescue operation is still ongoing. It involves the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Marine Services and Pol Air, who are all still looking for that third passenger, a teenage boy believed to be around 14, but the conditions here aren't making it easy. We did have patrols on the beach at Palm Beach today, which was fortunate, and they were able to respond very quickly, which is part of the reason we were able to save one of those people, but big conditions today and clearly difficult conditions for the search effort.
