The Malaysian government has strongly condemned Israel's plans, labeling them as violations of international law and human rights. Officials have called on the global community to oppose what they describe as a new form of occupation and Israeli apartheid, urging more humanitarian action.

But the recent announcement by Israel for the complete military control of Gaza has added new impetus to the whole movement. This rally of solidarity has been organized by 20 NGO groups with cross-party political support. Protesters have been setting off from different points around Kuala Lumpur and converging here on Independence Square to hear speeches, to see performances, to hold prayers, all with a message of standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine. It is not self-defense because they are bombing children. Israel is very cruel. It's a new occupation that should be opposed by the global community. There should be more humanitarian action. The Malaysian government has roundly condemned the Israeli plans as calculated and unconscionable, saying they violate international law and basic human rights, and calling on the international community to push back against what it is describing as an Israeli form of apartheid.
