Flood watches have been issued from the West Coast into Montana due to a series of atmospheric rivers bringing significant moisture to the region. The forecast predicts three to five, and in some areas up to eight, inches of rain, with snow expected in higher elevations.

Several rivers in Washington, including the Skagit and Snohomish, are projected to reach major flood stages, with the Skagit River possibly breaking its previous record by four feet. The heavy rainfall is expected to persist through the week, maintaining hazardous conditions despite providing relief after a dry period.

Here in the West we do have flood watches posted from the coast all the way into Montana and there's a look at the moisture feed coming in atmospheric rivers here. You're talking three four along the Oregon and also into the Washington coast. That essentially means that there are hazards, but it is going to be beneficial because things have been so dry for us through Sunday. We still could see three to five, even five to eight inches of rain, of course, snow into the higher elevations. But watch how it doesn't stop Wednesday as we head into our Thursday. Not much is changing. You're still getting that moisture in Friday. It does shift a little bit northbound, but we'll still stay in the clouds. These flood warnings are essentially along the rivers. By the way, I'm going to show you the Skagit River, which is up here. But there's a lot of rivers here that are all flowing from the Cascades there into the sound. Right now we have moderate flood stage, but so many are going to be going into major flood stage, if not record breaking. Real quick, the Snohomish, we are going to get there into major flood stage. But I also want to show you the Skagit River, and that's where we could break a record by four feet.
