Kobe Bryant fans have traveled from across the nation to see the late Lakers legend immortalized in bronze. It will be one of three statues showcased outside the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles.

The first of three statues to be showcased here at Crypto.com shows Bryant in his number eight uniform, a finger pointed to the sky while he walked off the court after his 81 point game against the Raptors in 2006. The Black Mamba becomes the sixth Laker player to be honored with the statue here outside Crypto.com arena. Vanessa Bryant was one of the speakers at yesterday's ceremony. To the fans here in L.A., this is a special city Kobe was so proud to represent. You welcomed him with open arms and have been so important to him, our family, and his legacy. It brings me joy to see how much love you have for all of us. We love you back. Thursday's date, 2-8-24, represented the jersey numbers of Kobe and his daughter Gianna. The location and unveiling date for those two other statues, one of Bryant in his number 24 uniform and the other with him and his daughter still unknown.
