The state visit, the second for any U.S. president, comes as the British government hopes a multi-billion dollar technology deal will show the transatlantic bond remains strong, despite differences over Ukraine, the Middle East and the future of the Western alliance. It also comes complete with Royal Pump and a glittering banquet for the Trumps inside Windsor. But, amid the expected blend of 21st century diplomacy and royal pageantry, criticism is also greeting the visit in the UK. On Tuesday, protesters gathered for a demonstration ahead of Trump's arrival while four people were arrested following a projection of images of the U.S. president alongside sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto the Royal Windsor Castle.

On the same day a ground offensive was launched in Gaza City, a United Nations Commission of Inquiry report concluded Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, a finding emphatically denied by Israeli officials.
