A federal judge has directed the U.S. government to rectify a mistake that led to the deportation of Annie Lopez-Bellosa, a 19-year-old Babson College freshman. Lopez-Bellosa was arrested by ICE agents at Boston's Logan Airport while traveling to visit her family, based on a removal order issued in 2015 when she was a child.

The judge has given the government 21 days to respond to the case and recommended that Lopez-Bellosa's student visa be extended. The Department of Homeland Security has not yet responded to her request to return to the United States.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the 19-year-old freshman at Babson College, she was arrested by ICE agents at Boston's Logan Airport. She was on her way to Texas to visit her family, but the Department of Homeland Security said there had been an order of removal issued for her since 2015 when she was a child. She was deported to Honduras. On Friday night, a judge gave the government 21 days to respond while recommending a student visa be extended to Lopez-Bellosa. I am no criminal and I have no criminal record under my name. I haven't done nothing wrong in the country and I just hope that I'm able to be given that chance to return and to continue living as a student. The Department of Homeland Security has not responded in court to Lopez-Bellosa's request to return to the U.S.
