Israeli airstrikes have resulted in extensive destruction in northern Gaza, particularly in the Al-Sabra and Zeitoun neighborhoods, where at least 450 buildings have been destroyed over a nine-day period. The attacks have left residential areas blanketed in smoke and debris, with many survivors seeking treatment in overcrowded and under-resourced hospitals. 

Displaced families in southern Gaza are also affected, with homes in designated 'safe zones' razed to the ground. The United Nations has reported that over 1,800 Palestinians have been killed while seeking food, many near humanitarian aid sites. Efforts to negotiate a ceasefire continue as the humanitarian situation worsens.

Israeli strikes flatten northern Gaza neighborhoods

Residential areas of Gaza City blanketed in smoke and debris, the result of Israeli airstrikes. Collapsed buildings covered the streets. Cars have been crushed by the concrete blocks that made up Palestinian homes. Al-Sabra and Zeitoun neighborhoods in the north have been the target of Israel's unrelenting campaign of demolition. At least 450 buildings have been destroyed in just nine days. And this is what Palestinians fear. Total destruction of what was a thriving and vibrant society. In Beit Lahir, the shell of Kamal Adwan Hospital stands out in what's now a city of rubble. Israeli forces are also destroying lives. Palestinians who survived Tuesday's attacks were taken to Al-Ali Hospital and seen on the floor in makeshift triage tents. For months, Israel has blocked the resupply of medicine for the strip's few remaining hospitals. Many who make it there end up dying because they can't be treated. In the south, families of displaced Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks near al-Mawassi clean up what was once their homes, now totally razed to the ground. That's despite Israel designating this area a so-called safe zone. I was in shock and went to the hospital. I had a breakdown. Children were crying. Girls were crying. There were sounds everywhere. Fear and tension. My family is gone. My daughter is gone along with her husband and children. They have been erased. Only their memory remains. Their pictures. Our memories. Their son-in-law was killed in a car. They can't pull him out and can barely identify him. Adding to the daily misery, starving Palestinians have again been shot at near sites run by the notorious Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The United Nations has called the GHF sites death traps and closely monitored attacks since operations began in May. We have documented that 1,857 Palestinians were killed while seeking food, including 1,021 killed in the vicinity of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation sites and 836 killed on the routes of supply trucks. Most of these killings appear to have been committed by the Israeli military. Despite efforts to reignite ceasefire negotiations, Israel is still killing, starving and forcibly displacing Palestinians across the Gaza Strip. Kayleigh Callaghan, Al Jazeera.
