The assistance, announced by Israel's foreign ministry, includes medical equipment, water purification supplies, gloves, and face masks, and will be delivered through the NGO Israed, which already operates in the region.

This aid initiative follows recent meetings between Israeli and South Sudanese officials aimed at addressing humanitarian issues and boosting bilateral relations. While there have been reports suggesting South Sudan might accept displaced Palestinians as part of a relocation plan proposed by Israel and the United States, South Sudan has officially denied these claims. The current aid effort is seen as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

Now, a knee-deep in mud with its own issues, Israel once again spearheading aid to others. Israel will provide urgent humanitarian aid to South Sudan to address a cholera crisis there. The foreign ministry announcing the aid includes medical equipment, water purification supplies, gloves, face masks, everything that is needed. But there is another underlining issue here. Host and correspondent Nicole Tzedek is here with us while aid is aid and timing is timing. Timing of this is certainly can't be ignored, Ellie, as it comes right on the backs of all of these reports that we discussed right here in studio that South Sudan would be a place that would take in some displaced Palestinians, all part of the relocation plan that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump had both touted. And so just on the back of that, even though South Sudan has denied these reports, but after their denial, more reports came out that their denial was faceless and discussions are taking place between Israeli and South Sudanese officials to take in some. When the denial is denied, you know something, something's happening. There's a lot of happening right now, and that's what's happening behind closed doors. But what we can't officially report on in front of open doors is at least the relationship between Israel and South Sudan. And this is another example of that relationship becoming friendlier and friendlier, it seems. So what we're seeing right now as far as this humanitarian aid being delivered to South Sudan, as you mentioned, a lot of this medical supplied foods, hygiene equipment, all to address the cholera outbreak in South Sudan. It's going to help be delivered through a nongovernmental organization, Israed, who already has some operations set up in South Sudan. And this also took place, discussions about this just last month when Foreign Minister Gideon Sauer met with his South Sudan counterpart and discussed the humanitarian issues happening inside South Sudan. These discussions had already been taking place, and we've seen a lot of these officials meeting in recent weeks. And so when you mentioned the timing of this, on open, on paper, they're stating that they're continuing to build ties, continuing to help each other out and truly boost the relationship specifically with the foreign ministers in both countries. But behind closed doors, some of the reporting that we're seeing, it is an interesting timing indeed when it comes as far as this swirling question, could South Sudan actually take in some displaced Gazans, and is this something that the international community would actually allow? I think that's why South Sudan is denying these reports, as all of the Arab countries, all the African countries have seen and have truly not backed this claim and this idea put forward by both Israel and the United States. But possibly behind closed doors, maybe we're seeing a different story. Do we have any indications, though, that this plan that is resurfacing, because we remember it quite vividly from the earlier stages of the war, we are long enough into it to phrase it that way, do we have any indications that it is indeed gaining momentum and not just a talk? Besides these reports that was just last week, I think that's when it came into the headlines once again, because it was months ago that Prime Minister Netanyahu said that he was in contact with different countries, but he has not named any of those countries, actually. So months ago there were reports that it could be Indonesia, now we're seeing reports that it could be South Sudan. Perhaps there's still all of these talks for multiple of these different countries, or perhaps also these countries are continuing to talk, build these relationships with Israel, but this could go nowhere at the same time. And so when you speak of this is actually moving and we're seeing momentum, it doesn't seem to be the case. I wouldn't read anything too into this as far as this happening in the immediate future, but certainly something to keep an eye on. And this is why I do want to go full circle back to the way we started this segment, because yes, there might be some underlying interests here, and yet Israel time and time again, whenever there is a country in need, is the first, and if not the first, the second, or maybe the third, to chip in and send aid whenever and wherever is the need. This is another prime example of that, wherever it is, continuing to build those relationships because Israel is also in need of any of the friendly relationships that it can get, and so continuing to build off of that partnership with South Sudan. Yes, and again, this is part, perhaps we are in a different climate at the moment, but it is part of the diplomatic charm offensive of Israel, to assist, to aid, and to enhance bilateral ties based on prosperity.
