Local leaders state that these demolitions will displace approximately 400 additional families, adding to nearly 1,000 families already affected in recent phases.

The Israeli military states the operation aims to improve mobility and prevent militancy in the area. According to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees, around 40,000 people have been displaced from their homes in the West Bank since January, marking the largest movement of Palestinians in the region since 1967.

From clothing to bed frames, saucepans to washing machines. Palestinians in Tulkarem scrambled to collect their belongings Wednesday after Israel notified them that their homes would be demolished. They were given just a few hours to evacuate, all under the watch of heavily armed Israeli soldiers. Our house poses zero risk to them. They say that for security reasons they will pave roads. Clearly what's happening is not for security reasons. It's to displace the refugees again. It's the latest phase of demolitions to hit Tulkarem recently, which local leaders say have displaced nearly 1,000 families in total. There's a decision issued by the Israeli occupation authorities to demolish 104 buildings, each consisting of three to four residential apartments, where families live, father, mother and children. This means that around 400 additional families will be displaced. With nowhere to go, Palestinians have also complained of no aid from local authorities. Even if one finds an apartment, there's no money, nothing at all to cover the price. The demolitions are part of a wider operation by the Israeli military in the northern occupied West Bank, which it claims is aimed at improving soldiers' mobility around refugee camps and preventing militancy. According to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees, it's forced some 40,000 people from their homes since January, the largest displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank since 1967.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv will do "anything" to advance EU accession talks. Zelenskyy spoke alongside Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
