Many of those crossing the border aim to reach Armenia's capital, Yerevan, either to wait for the situation in Iran to stabilize or to travel onward, but face rising transportation costs and logistical difficulties.

Some Iranians interviewed expressed frustration with how their country is portrayed in international media and voiced concerns about the broader impact of regional conflicts. The situation is further complicated by Armenia's own tensions with neighboring Azerbaijan, with fears of spillover effects in the region.

Iranians still fleeing to Armenia despite ceasefire

Despite the relative calm, some Iranians continue to cross into Armenia, unsure whether the ceasefire will last. This woman is still in shock. The sounds were terrifying, and they continued for several nights. A target was hit near my father's house, where I was at the time. I don't believe the ceasefire will last long. And as an Iranian, I would never want another country to take control of Iran. The United States only cares about its own interests, just like every country does. Most people fleeing Iran through Armenia intend to reach the capital city Yerevan, a seven-hour drive away from here, to catch a flight to another destination, or at least wait there till they make sure that the situation calms down in Iran before going back. However, reaching the capital city is becoming difficult, as taxi drivers propose very high prices, up to $350 per car, instead of $100 initially. On top of these logistical challenges, there is growing frustration over how their countries portray the world. Global media only shows a negative image of Iran, but Iran has the best people. It's a beautiful country. All of this is just politics. That's it. I wouldn't talk too much about regime change. That's something that could happen, but no one can predict it. It's happened in other countries, but nothing like that would be good for Iran or its people. These wars have gone on for years, and it's always the people who suffer. Everyone is innocent, all of the people of the world. Yet even here, you know the Armenians are in conflict with Azerbaijan. Armenia in particular fears spillover effects on its own soil. Especially as its neighbor, Azerbaijan, has territorial ambitions in this broader region. So far, Tehran's red line has helped deter any attempt to seize it by force.
