A family is in mourning over the death of Sydney father Gilbert Shino, who was shot in a Forest Lodge pub in what is believed to be a targeted attack on his friend, Maradona Yalda.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Gilbert Chino in Forest Lodge, New South Wales. Chino was killed in what authorities suspect was an attempt on the life of his associate, Maradona Yalda, who remains in hospital with gunshot wounds. 

Investigators are examining possible links between the shooting and a burnt-out Ford Mustang found nearby, as well as connections to a Syrian crime gang and a potential drug dispute. Chino's family and friends have paid tribute to him, describing him as a devoted husband and father. A fundraiser for his wife and daughters has raised approximately $70,000.

I sort of ran up and said, oh the house is blown up, the house is blown up, but it wasn't actually a house, it was found out when I went up further that it was a car and then everyone was coming out and it was going bang, bang. The car seized by forensics as they try to track down the gunman and any associates. Police are continuing to probe links between Maradona Yalda and a Syrian crime gang the last hour, while a drug dispute is another line of inquiry. The 31-year-old remains stable in hospital battling gunshot wounds. Less than 48 hours from his death, a fundraiser has collected around $70,000 for Shino's wife and daughters.
