A historic auction in Los Angeles will offer more than 400 items from the Jim Henson Company's archives, marking the first time the company has sold any memorabilia in its 70-year history. The auction includes iconic pieces such as fraggles, Miss Piggy's shoes from 'The Great Muppet Caper,' and puppets from 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.'

While the Henson archive contains tens of thousands of items, only a fraction will be available at this event, with some smaller items expected to sell for around $1,000 and a full body puppet potentially reaching $60,000. The handmade nature of these artifacts highlights a disappearing art form, making them highly valued by collectors.

Carter Evans pulled a few strings and got a preview. This is puppet royalty and tomorrow creatures created by Jim Henson are about to be sold to the highest bidders. This auction is very historic because the Jim Henson company has never sold anything ever in this 70 year history that the company has existed. Roy Parker is with Julian's auctions and gave us a preview of the fraggles and other memorabilia including shoes worn by Miss Piggy. It's the pair that she wore in the great Muppet caper in the bike riding scene. The items up for auction or just a fraction of the late Jim Henson's vast empire of Muppets and fraggles. There are tens of thousands of items in the Henson archive and just over 400 are on the auction block. All of these pieces come from the dark crystal age of resistance, including one of the thrush pogs. Key is still operational. Some of the smaller items are predicted to sell for about $1000 while this full body puppet could fetch up to 60,000. What makes these pieces so special is that Jim Henson had to imagine them and then they had to give them to people who had to make them by hand.
