Hurricane Priscilla has intensified into a Category 2 storm in the Pacific Ocean, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to coastal regions. Meteorologist Rob Marciano joins "CBS Mornings" to track Priscilla's projected path and the growing tropical threats developing in both the Pacific and Atlantic.

Hurricane Priscilla has strengthened into a Category 2 storm in the Pacific Ocean, displaying a classic hurricane structure with a visible eye south of Cabo San Lucas. Meteorologists expect the storm to continue intensifying for a short period before weakening, but its moisture is forecast to move into the southwestern United States, potentially causing flooding rains.

In addition to Priscilla, meteorologists are tracking another developing storm in the Atlantic, which may soon be named Jerry and could reach hurricane strength. The report also noted the recent upgrade of a tornado in North Dakota to EF-5 status, marking the first such classification since 2013, and mentioned the appearance of a supermoon, with more expected in the coming months.

Now to the weather and new tropical threats in both the east and west. This morning, Hurricane Priscilla has strengthened into a Category 2 storm in the Pacific. CBS News Meteorologist Rob Marciano is tracking all the forest joins us now. Rob, good morning. Hey, good morning, Tony. Yeah, here's Priscilla right now. A pretty formidable hurricane. You can see it. Classic shape with the eye there south of the Cabo San Lucas. Expected to continue to strengthen for the next 24 hours and then weaken dramatically. But the moisture from this is going to begin to get into the southwest as early as Friday getting in and then maybe some flooding rain Saturday and Sunday. So that's what we're worried about as we head towards that part of the hurricane base. The Atlantic Basin, been quiet for a couple of weeks now, at least as far as one of these getting towards the U.S. This will likely be our next storm. The name will be Jerry, likely to become a hurricane as well. And at this point, likely to become one that hopefully, once again, veers off to the east. All right. Want to talk about this tornado. This was an EF-3 tornado for our friends in Enderlin, North Dakota on June 20th. It's been upgraded to an EF-5 with winds of over 200 miles an hour. There were three fatalities with this and a lot of dramatic damage as well. But this is the first EF-5 since 2013 and that one that went through Moore, Oklahoma. And then, of course, a supermoon last night. I don't know if you saw it, guys. A beautiful moon. It will be one of three supermoons that we'll see over the next two months. The one in November will be even brighter and bigger. So you have that to look forward to if you missed it. Adriana? I did not miss it, Rob. It was incredible last night. The moon. I did not miss it.
