Melissa's movement has shifted from a westward to a west-northwesterly direction at about three miles per hour. Forecast models indicate the storm will begin turning north and then northeast, putting Jamaica, eastern Cuba, and the southeastern Bahamas, including the Turks and Caicos, in its projected path.

The new advisory for Hurricane Melissa is in. This is a 2 p.m. Eastern advisory. The winds have increased to 175 miles per hour. It is still a Category 5, and the pressure has dropped, actually just a few millibars, as you would expect with increasing winds. Yeah, the other big part of this new update here shows the direction that Melissa is moving has now changed a bit. It was moving generally due west, now more west, northwesterly at about three miles per hour. So it's still moving slowly, but the direction has changed a bit, an indication that this thing is gonna start to make that kind of bend and turn eventually to the north and then northeast as we work our way through the rest of this week. So it looks like the turn is starting to take place here and online and on track here in terms of the forecast to unfortunately make its way right across Jamaica and then eastern Cuba, and then we gotta watch out as we get to the midweek, parts of the southeastern Bahamas and around the Turks and Caicos.
