Most of the country's infrastructure has been destroyed, the economy has collapsed, and food and medicine are lacking. There have also been reports of extrajudicial killings, rape and sexual violence, in what's now being described as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Yet international actors, who have been ringing the alarm bell for months, warn the situation could be about to get much worse. Time is running out. Without a stop to the fighting and unhindered access to the delivery of humanitarian aid, Sudan's crisis will dramatically worsen in the months to come and could impact the whole region. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg, and the situation could be much more dire in reality. Humanitarian organizations say more funding is urgently needed, with only 6% of the resources required to address the crisis having been raised so far. They're also calling on the warring sides to open up humanitarian corridors and allow unimpeded access to aid.
