Hikers at Runyon Canyon Park in Los Angeles confronted a man they witnessed allegedly setting fire to a tree. The incident, captured on video, shows bystanders preventing the man from leaving the scene while authorities were called. 

Police arrested Andrew O'Callaghan, who has been charged with one count of arson of forest land. O'Callaghan pleaded not guilty during his arraignment and remains in custody, according to court records. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and CNN has reached out to his attorney for comment.

The incident was captured on video by fashion designer Devon DeMarco. She was hiking with Scott Mitchell, their usual Sunday tradition, Mitchell told CNN. The former football player for the Kentucky Wildcats and the Canadian Football League confronted the man while other bystanders called police. LAPD officers arrived and took the man, identified as Andrew O'Callaghan, into custody. Mitchell told CNN they were afraid of a repeat of the devastating wildfires earlier this year that ravaged parts of Los Angeles. O'Callaghan pleaded not guilty to one count of arson during an arraignment Tuesday and remains in custody, court records show. CNN has reached out to his attorney but has not received a response.
