Authorities stated the increased presence was a precaution to maintain peace and reassure the community, particularly given concerns about a repeat of the Cronulla race riots from 20 years ago. Despite the heightened security, the beach remained peaceful, with leaders urging calm and unity among Australians.

Police helicopters flying around and that's why I didn't have a clue what was happening to be fair. Just a lot of guys on patrol and a lot of cars around, maybe I've seen five or six this morning. A deliberate show of force to provide reassurance after a shocking social media post circulated in the wake of the Bondi attack, calling for a mass bashing at this beach. Authorities taking no chances, a council car park shut down, allowing police to move in. Officers swarming the waterfront, parks, roads, even off the coast. An unmissable presence. Cronulla is a welcoming place. We want people here, we welcome people. We want everybody to enjoy our beaches, parks, playgrounds safely. The post, which was a racially motivated, violent call to action, sparked fears there could be a repeat of this. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Cronulla race riots. There's the legacy of the riots is long, but our community was really upset to see such a time of national heartbreak being used to weaponise hatred in our community. It has been a peaceful day here. People undeterred by the extra police enjoying the sun and surf, after the horror at Bondi leaders are appealing for calm, urging the community to stick together.
