The Caulfield Cup winner is fit as a fiddle and loves the wet, and with Jamie Mellom in the saddle, half yaws will be chasing a Rare Cups double. McEvoy admits having the only locally bred horse in the race also brings a degree of pride. Definitely, absolutely, I mean it's our great race but it's become a race that's very difficult to win with an Australian bred horse. They're hard to beat the internationals and I look through the field and our horse is the only horse with the Australian suffix and that does give us great pride. Ten years after Michelle Payne saluted in the Cup, Mellom will be hoping to become the first female jockey to win the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
