Her artwork, which measures 584.8 feet and is composed entirely of leaf impressions, reflects her lifelong connection to nature and her roots in New Tafo, Akim.

After an initial unsuccessful attempt at a different record in 2024, Paddy refined her approach and succeeded in her goal, incorporating the Ghanaian flag into her piece to highlight national identity. Through her gallery, she continues to champion African art, cultural heritage, and women's empowerment, hoping her achievement will inspire more women and children to pursue art.

After nearly two years of grit and persistence, Ghanian artist Sharon Didi Paddy has turned ambition into history. Last month, she earned a Guinness World Record for creating the longest leaf print painting by an individual, a striking artwork stretching 584.8 feet, made entirely from leaf impressions. I grew up at New Tafo, Akim, which is a very vegetative area, very green, leaves all around us, and I've fallen in love with leaves from my childhood. So coming across the largest leaf print painting, I decided, why not? Why don't I give it a try? The journey wasn't smooth. In 2024, Paddy fell short of her first Guinness attempt for the longest continuous painting session. But instead of giving up, she refined her idea and came back stronger. I am super, super excited. I wanted to be a record holder. That was my one dream. Two, I wanted to project the Ghanian culture heritage to the world, which I have done so through the Ghana flag, and also through my first attempt by bringing out a lot of paintings on our culture. Her record-breaking piece features the Ghanian flag using leaf prints to fuse national identity with nature, placing Ghanian culture on the global stage. Beyond the record, Paddy is a driving force in Ghana's art space. Through her gallery, she champions African art, cultural heritage, and women's empowerment. She hopes her achievement will open doors for Ghana's art industry and encourage more women and children to take up art and painting. I'm looking at going beyond Ghana to West Africa, to Africa, and to Europe and America, where I'm going to impact the Ghanian culture heritage through painting.
