According to the World Health Organization, there have been 85 suspected cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome since June, with experts attributing the rise in diseases to deteriorating water, sanitation, and nutrition conditions.

At least 15,000 patients, including almost 4,000 children, are awaiting medical evacuation, but the closure of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt has prevented their transfer. The United Nations General Assembly has stated the crossing will remain closed until the terms of a ceasefire deal are met, further endangering the lives of those needing urgent care.

At Al Aqsa Hospital in the heart of Gaza, a young girl named Bissan Abu Amira waits for answers that seem like they'll never come. Doctors have yet to diagnose her illness. Her mother says she needs urgent tests, but the hospitals in the strip no longer have the equipment. They said she has blocked intestines, but the diagnosis didn't prove it. However, they don't know the real problem because there's no proper equipment. I took her to many hospitals for the right diagnosis, but it's all in vain. Now she's suffering and has no medication. Hours after we met her, Bissan's condition worsened. She was rushed to the intensive care unit. Across the ward lies Walid, who's 13 years old. He was suddenly paralyzed, diagnosed with Galleon-Bear syndrome, a rare disorder in which the body's immune system attacks its nerves. Walid has weak muscle syndrome. He was normal until July 17th, when the Israelis threw poisonous gas near the beach where he was. He suffered the suffering from paralysis in his limbs. Then it got worse until he lost movement and the ability to speak. Walid has been paralyzed for months, trapped between hospital walls, waiting for a chance to leave. According to the World Health Organization, 85 suspected cases of Galleon-Bear syndrome that he has, have been reported across Gaza since June. Experts warn that collapsing water and sanitation systems, overcrowded shelters and severe malnutrition are fueling the spread of diseases like this. About the issue of the evacuation, medical evacuation of the cases, we have a huge problem in this topic. We have cases of renal failure that need dialysis or undialysis and there is no central lines for them. And two of the cases here in Al-Aqsa Hospital already became in sepsis, active sepsis. And they need urgent evacuation for them. At least 15,000 patients, among them nearly 4,000 children, are waiting for medical evacuation.
