French swimmer Léon Marchand achieved a remarkable feat by winning two gold medals at the Olympics. Marchand first claimed victory in the 200-meter butterfly, bringing thousands of French supporters to their feet. Approximately 90 minutes later, he secured another gold in the 200-meter breaststroke.

These achievements make Marchand the first swimmer in over a century to win two individual titles in one day. He also broke the Olympic record in each of these events. Marchand expressed his astonishment, stating it was surreal to participate in two finals and to experience such success as a Frenchman.

The 22-year-old from Toulouse is set to compete in the 200-meter medley in his next race, with many anticipating further success.

He made history, we will remember this all our life. It's once in a lifetime, amazing. With a whole country behind him, Marchand topped it off by breaking the Olympic record in each race. It's one of the greatest exploits in the history of the Games, and even the man himself found it hard to process. It's insane. It was already crazy enough to be in two finals. I had a very good race plan for the 200m butterfly. It's insane to experience as a Frenchman. I couldn't be happier. But there's no time for Marchand to rest on his laurels. He's back in the pool on Thursday for his next race, the 200m medley, and few would bet against the 22-year-old from Toulouse adding to his medal haul.
